LELAND BLUE
Leland Blue is a type of Slag Glass that originates from the town of Leland in Michigan and was produced at the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company from 1870 to 1885. Similar to stones like Frankfort Green, it is a byproduct of the Iron smelting process used in the late 19th century. Over time it was weathered and smoothed by natural forces, such as water and sand. Leland Blue is known for its distinctive blue color, which can range from light to dark shades often containing swirls.
