NATIVE COPPER
Copper is one of the oldest metals humankind learned to utilize, dating back to 9,000 BC. In 1841, it was discovered in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. From 1847 to 1887, Michigan produced more copper than any other state in the nation, providing more than half of the nation's copper during the 1870s. Copper and Tin are the ingredients for Bronze, and copper can also be found in other gemstones like Malachite, Turquoise, and Chrysocolla.
