CHARLEVOIX

Like its cousin, the Petoskey stone, the Charlevoix stone is a Fossilized Coral from the ancient period of Earth history when what we now call Michigan sat at the bottom of a shallow sea. Charlevoix has a smaller exoskeleton than Petoskey, with the Coral Colonies closer together giving it a distinctive honeycomb-like appearance. Charlevoix are a bit more rare than the Petoskey stone.
